Pippa Lattey – Blue Cabin Artist Residency
Local artist Pippa Lattey will be in residence at the Blue Cabin from January 22 – March 5, 2021. Lattey works with sculpture, movement, sound and place. Her first solo exhibition Into Orbit was at PAVED Arts in Saskatoon in April 2020. Outdoor projects include Gestures of Birds (2018) in New Westminster, and Banana Installation outside the Vancouver Art Gallery for ISEA (2015, with Thomas Evdokimoff). Collaborative and curatorial projects include Parking Spot Projects, and Vending Machine Experiment.
For her residency at the Blue cabin, Lattey will be honouring the legacy of artist, musician and writer Al Neil—who occupied the cabin and used it as a studio for over 50 years—by bringing his piano back to the Blue Cabin as part of a kinetic sound sculpture that follows local tide data. Exploring the relationship of sound with space and time, Lattey plans to experiment with acoustics in the Blue Cabin and over the waters of False Creek.
