Blue Cabin Interviews
This past week we had the honour of recording conversations between the xwməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) artists in our “Skeins Weaving on the Foreshore” residency program — Debra Sparrow, Chief Janice George, Buddy Joseph and Angela George — and members of Host Consulting Inc.
Each artist was interviewed by a family member, sharing family stories, histories and reflecting on their personal weaving practices and projects, the revitalization of Coast Salish weaving traditions, and the relationship of weaving to place and the waterways. Conversations reflected on the similarities of the aesthetics of water and weaving.
