Invasion Day – The Foreshore
The Foreshore Invasion Day event on the water at the Blue Cabin had many supporters. Thanks to all those who came out under the grey skies on January 25th to listen to some spectacular performances from local artists Christie Lee Charles, Jeneen Frei Njootli, and Senaqwila Wyss. Also featured in this performance set was We Are Water a recording of a previously performed work by Claire G. Coleman on January 22.

Coleman’s We Are Water (excerpt), a new work by Jeneen Frei Njootli (excerpt), a traditional Squamish dawn greeting song performed by Senaqwila Wyss and one of the two Musqueam hip-hop tracks performed by Miss Christie Lee Charles.
This event took place in solidarity with the Invasion Day March in Australia on January 26th, in Sydney, Australia. – In addition to several Other Sights Members being present at the Blue Cabin Invasion Day performance, several Other Sights members were concurrently participating in the Invasion Day March alongside future is floating artists in Sydney. A timely act of solidarity between Indigenous people in Australia and Canada.
The Invasion Day Event was also a fundraiser to support wildfire relief efforts in Australia. Thanks to Jeneen Frei Njootli for helping to coordinate the fundraising efforts. Over $600 was raised and donated to: Fire Relief Fund for First Nations Communities and First Nations Fire Knowledge Land Lore
