The Larwill Park Site Inaugural Project
The Larwill Park site holds a unique place in the history of Vancouver. Distinguished first as a cricket and lacrosse pitch by early sportsmen, the lot hosted countless demonstrations, jubilees and celebrations, visits from colonial royalty, military exercises, goats, a chain gang, riots and fairs. This platform for celebration and for protest is now the proposed site of the new Vancouver Art Gallery.
BLUE CABIN
The mix of heritage and contemporary culture in this project creates a rare interface, one that presents opportunities to examine and celebrate where these concepts meet, and how they interact.

Join Other Sights and the community of The Foreshore for a special event launching a suite of multi-textured podcasts based on and inspired by The Foreshore Sessions.
Sour vs Sour – Chocolate Bar Edition
Big Rock Candy Mountain – Sour vs Sour – As part of a 3-month engagement with a Queen Alexandra Elementary School grade 3/4 class, artists Hannah Jickling & Helen Reed taste-tested a range of flavours and developed a miscellaneous vocabulary to describe them: sounds, shapes, words, elaborate fonts, synesthetic line drawings and emojis. With visits to-and-from East Van Roasters, the group learned about single-origin, fairly traded dark chocolate and navigated its tense (and tacky) conflation with cheap candy from the gas station nearby.
BLUE CABIN SPEAKER SERIES: FLOATING ARTIST RESIDENCY
Join us for a conversation with the Blue Cabin project founding partners, Glenn Alteen, Esther Rausenberg, and Barbara Cole, as they talk about their four-year process of saving, remediating, and repurposing the cabin. They will also speak about the project as it moves into its next phases of development, drawing us closer to its launch as a floating artist residency and heritage engagement site.

The Foreshore is a multi-year collaboration between Other Sights for Artists’ Projects and curator Kimberly Phillips, and is inspired by the deep influence of the waterways on our cities and societies on the West Coast. Artist Jen Weih and artist and curator Vanessa Kwan will speak about The Foreshore’s past and current projects.
BLUE CABIN SPEAKER SERIES: CAROLE ITTER
Carole Itter will present an informal talk about her artwork and writings during her 35-year residency at the Blue Cabin. She will be joined by artist Krista Lomax for a conversation about their times spent at the cabin, and a screening of Lomax’s 11-minute documentary entitled the blue cabin.
